I’m incredibly excited to announce that we have a new team member and Contributing Editor joining the fray this week. If you attended our July Agora or happened to notice our featured speaker, then you’re already familiar with Ellen Whitlock Baker.
If you’re not…
Ellen Whitlock Baker is a coach, facilitator, and speaker who helps leaders and organizations create healthier, more sustainable workplaces. Her work is grounded in a simple belief: people should be able to do meaningful work without sacrificing themselves in the process. Visit Ellen’s website.
Ellen spent nearly two decades in nonprofit and higher education leadership, including advancement and alumni engagement roles at the University of Washington and Seattle University. Her experience leading teams and navigating burnout firsthand informs what she does today.
A Hudson Institute-trained executive coach, Ellen holds an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coaching Federation. Through coaching, workshops, retreats, and keynotes, she helps individuals and teams rethink the habits that contribute to burnout and create better ways to lead and work.
Ellen is a Forbes Council contributor and writes about leadership, burnout, and workplace culture in her newsletter, Work in Progress. She also hosts Hard at Work, a podcast about making work better for everyone.
Keep your eyes peeled for Ellen’s articles and contributions to the Breakout podcast over the coming weeks. We’re thrilled to have her join the team.

Behind the Scenes of a Signature Alumni Event: Lessons from the Bentley Alumni Conference
A great alumni conference can do more than bring people together — it can create the conditions for relationships to grow, alumni expertise to strengthen the institution, and university priorities to become meaningful and relevant to graduates.
In this Agora, Allison Kerivan, Executive Director of Advancement Relations, will take attendees behind the scenes of the Bentley Alumni Conference, the university’s flagship professional development and networking experience, and share how it has evolved into a strategic platform for alumni engagement and donor cultivation.
Date: Thursday, September 3 from 12 - 1 pm
Faculty-in-Residence
For six weeks beginning August 17 - September 25, Speaking Engagement welcomes Mallory Erickson — executive coach, creator and host of the What the Fundraising podcast, and author of the book by the same name — as our inaugural resident.
We’ll have a final live Symposium event for members on September 23.
